DARRYL TRELL
Working in film and television since 1996
Darryl began his work in filmed entertainment in 1996, casting for film and television. From 1999 to 2006, as a development executive and producer with The Discovery Networks, Trell was integral in the development and production of new specials and series including The Crocodile Hunter, Croc Week, Animal Cops, and King of the Jungle.
In 2006, Trell entered scripted development. Working as a Creative Executive at Pandemonium Films under Bill Mechanic (former FOX Filmed Entertainment studio head, Coraline, Dark Water, Hacksaw Ridge) Trell forged strong relationships with A-level writers, directors, producers, and talent, and ushered in quality projects to their slate of films.
In 2010, his attention was pulled back to the small screen when he co-founded Smoke and Mirrors Creative - a production and development pod, creating groundbreaking content for TV networks and streaming services. Under that company, Trell created and EP’ed a hit series on Fox, as well as content for SyFy, GSN, The CW, and Facebook Watch. Meanwhile, he also continued to work tirelessly as an independent producer, lending his expertise and vast knowledge of unscripted production to larger production houses as co-executive, supervising, and lead story producer.
In 2015, Trell’s Smoke & Mirrors Creative was absorbed under a hybrid overall deal with Brian Graden Media (former president of MTV Networks), and Darryl became the Senior Vice President of Development and Production for the parent company.
Trell has over 160 hours of programming which have aired or are currently airing in the US, as a credited producer; 28 of those hours are airing/have aired in over 33 countries. Trell is an active, voting member of the Television Academy of Arts and Sciences.

Trell was integral in the development and production of new specials and series including The Crocodile Hunter, Croc Week, Animal Cops, and King of the Jungle.
